Trains:

There is a train connection between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Leeuwarden/Ljouwert twice per hour. The trains leave at xx.21 and xx.51. The trip takes roughly 2½ hour and requires usually one change (Amersfoort òr Zwolle) or sometimes two changes (Amersfoort and Zwolle). Take care that you are in the right half of the train. As the train will be split halfway in Zwolle, one part (the front) will head for Groningen and the other part (the back) for Leeuwarden. (In doubt ask the conductor or your fellow-travellers).
 
For your trip back there are again two trains per hour at xx.04 and xx.45 from Leeuwarden/Ljouwert to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
