Being a core subject in the maintenance of minority languages in education, teacher training was the focus of the EMOL project. It made an inventory of the position of the minority languages in the training of teachers, both at primaryand secondary level in 25 language communities. The concluding report (in three volumes) consists of the project's questions, the infrastructure at legislation and educational policy level, the various provisions in pre-service and in-service teacher training and recommendations for practice and policy.

The EMOL project started in 1991 and was completed in 1994.
